Gametopia Chronicles • Editorial Standards

Consistency over hype—clear facts, neutral language, and next steps.

Our recaps and listings are written for adult tabletop clubs: what happened, who hosted, what format was played, and what’s coming up. These standards keep updates scannable, comparable week to week, and easy to correct.

Recap template (copy-ready)

Every meetup recap follows the same structure so readers can scan standings, find the “what changed,” and understand any rules calls without editorializing. Use neutral language and keep claims tied to observed play.

1) Standings snapshot

  • Format: League week / open play / draft night / campaign session.
  • Attendance: total players + notable first-timers (optional).
  • Results: top finishers (or win/loss records) with ties clearly stated.
  • Movement: “moved to 2nd,” “remains in 1st,” “new entry.” Avoid “dominated.”

2) Highlights (what happened at the table)

  • 3–6 bullets. Each bullet: who + what + why it mattered.
  • Prefer concrete language: “closed the gap by 4 points,” “secured the last objective,” “won initiative in round 5.”
  • Separate observation from inference. If uncertain, mark it: “appeared to,” “reportedly,” or omit.

3) Rules notes (only when useful)

  • Call out one relevant ruling or reminder that affected play.
  • Quote the rule text or cite the source (rulebook/FAQ) when possible.
  • Keep tone neutral: “We played X as written,” “The table agreed on Y.”
  • For house rules, label clearly and keep separate from official rules.

For what qualifies as publishable meetup info, see Meetup listing rules.

4) Next week (the forward-looking block)

  • Date/time/location: confirm or note “pending confirmation.”
  • Format: scenario, league week, featured game, or theme.
  • What to bring: components, sleeves, factions, or accessibility notes.
  • RSVP: link to meetup listing when available; otherwise state who to contact.

Meetup listing rules

How we structure listings so adults 40–60 can quickly scan the essentials. Listings may be updated as details change.

Corrections policy

Subject to change We place this note near the top of each listing when any key detail is pending or likely to move.

Common reasons: venue confirmation, final headcount/cap, or a host schedule change. If the date changes, we update the listing timestamp and note what changed.

Required fields

A listing is eligible for publication when it includes the items below. If something is unknown, we publish only when it’s clearly labeled as pending.

Field What we need Notes
Date & time Start time, expected end time, and time zone if outside local If flexible, include a latest-possible start window.
Venue / location Name + address (or “online” + platform) We avoid private residential addresses; use a public meetup point instead.
Host Host name/handle and how to contact (link or email) We don’t publish personal phone numbers unless explicitly requested.
Format Open play, league night, teaching table, tournament, etc. Include player count expectations when known.
Cost Free / cover / table fee + what it covers If a purchase is required, we state it plainly.
Capacity & RSVP Seats available + RSVP link or “walk-ins OK” If capped, we place the cap near the top of the listing.
Accessibility Stairs/elevator, seating type, noise level, and parking/transit notes We write what’s known; we don’t infer.
Game / theme focus Primary titles or genres, plus what’s provided If bring-your-own is expected, we say so.

Placement rules

  • Key facts (date/time, venue, format, cost, RSVP) must appear before any descriptive copy.
  • “Subject to change” appears within the first screen of content, not buried in the footer.
  • If details change, we add a short “Updated” line stating what changed.

Neutral language

Listings should be informative, not promotional. We avoid hype, guarantees (“best night ever”), or unverifiable claims. For recap tone and structure, see Recap template.

Need to correct a listing? Use Contact with the updated details and a source (host note, venue page, or official RSVP link).

Corrections policy

We aim to keep meetup listings and recap details accurate without changing the original meaning of the story. If you spot an error, tell us—here’s how we handle updates.

Request a correction

What we’ll update

  • Factual details: dates/times, venue names, organizer/host names, and format notes (draft, league, teaching table).
  • Scores/standings and game titles when verified by the organizer or the recap source.
  • Typos, broken links, and attribution/source clarifications.

For the recap structure we follow, see Recap template.

How to request a correction

  1. 1Send the URL of the page (or the meetup/date) and the specific line(s) to change.
  2. 2Include the corrected information and, if possible, a source (host message, event page, standings post).
  3. 3We’ll confirm what changed and add a brief correction note when the update affects meaning.

Typical turnaround

Most requests are reviewed within 2–3 business days. Time-sensitive meetup changes (cancellations/venue updates) are prioritized.

Neutral language: We focus on verifiable details and avoid speculation. If a correction request involves disputes or sensitive claims, we may limit updates to confirmed facts or add context instead of rewriting the recap.
